I first encountered NLG as a defendant when I was one of 21 activists arrested in 2019 for blocking the Detroit Windsor Tunnel in an immigration action. The Legal Observers and Attorneys were instrumental to us being able to have that successful action. I became an LO during the pandemic, then joined the LO Committee. I have been on the Board since 2022 and Secretary since last fall. I also serve on the Fundraising Committee, and you’ve probably gotten fundraising emails from me in the past.

I served many years ago as treasurer of RESOLVE of Pittsburgh, a small non-profit. I also am my own bookkeeper for the small private psychotherapy practice I operate in Ypsilanti, where my “day job” is as a psychotherapist specializing in the effects of trauma. I love numbers and am good at keeping finances organized. I would like to work with out outgoing treasurer, our board and our volunteers to shore up the finances for our chapter, which are often in precarious shape. I would like to reinvigorate our fundraising efforts to increase the amount we bring in beyond grants and dues.

Being the treasurer of an anticapitalist organization is a tricky job. We neither want to put emphasis on people’s availability to pay, nor can we afford to ignore that operating in a capitalistic society means paying attention to money. I hope to be able to bridge that gap to further the goals of NLG.
