Rihan Issa - 2022 Student Honoree
Rihan Issa is a 3L at the University of Michigan Law School. Rihan joined the Guild to be part of a camaraderie of legal warriors working to uproot and shift social power and end structural oppression. As a Palestinian Muslim American, the Guild is one of the only places where she sees representation of herself and the communities she cares about in the broader goal of achieving social justice. She is particularly interested in the Mass Incarceration Committee, the Palestine Subcommittee, and in the Guild’s intersectional work as a whole. As a lawyer, Rihan hopes to work on advocating for clients from an abolitionist, internationalist perspective. The NLG network has, and will continue to be, a primary way of achieving this.
Rihan is involved in the student chapter of the NLG at Michigan Law and is a Legal Observer.
