ACTION ALERT: Detroit Right To Counsel Needs Your Voice
Tell Mayor Duggan & Donald Rencher that Detroit has the right to a Fully Funded & Fully Implemented Right to Counsel Ordinance!
We won the Detroit Right to Counsel Ordinance for our community. Now, we must continue to fight together to make it a reality. Starting now through Nov 1, 2022, do one or more of these actions:
CALL OR EMAIL MAYOR DUGGAN AND DONALD RENCHER
Mayor Duggan
(313) 224-3400
EmailMayorDuggan@detroitmi.gov
Donald Rencher, Group Executive over Housing
(313) 224-1104
CityClerkHelpDesk@detroitmi.gov. Ask the City Clerk to make your written comments part of the public record for the 11/1/22 Council Meeting.
MAKE PUBLIC COMMENTS on November 1, 2022, at 10:00 a.m.
Detroit Right to Counsel Coalition has been invited to present this problem to the entire Detroit City Council, and a representative from the Mayor’s Administration will be present. We must tell the Mayor and his administration to follow the law, fund the ordinance, and not leave Detroiters in the cold! Attend in person, via Zoom, and by phone (see instructions at the end of the message). Get there early, around 9:30 a.m., and ask for a comment card. You have a right to be heard.

Follow the Law. Fund The Law. Implement The Law.
Mayor Duggan must follow the law and fully fund and implement the Detroit Right to Counsel Ordinance.
Fully Fund the Right to Counsel Ordinance through ARPA funds or the $158 million budget surplus. Detroit is in a strong financial position, and there is NO EXCUSE for not fully funding the Right to Counsel Ordinance.
We demand the $18 million for Right to Counsel that the Detroit City Council already approved. The Mayor’s budget for Right to Counsel leaves thousands of Detroiters unprotected from eviction at the worst time of the year. Tell Mayor Duggan to stop leaving vulnerable Detroiters out in the cold and fully fund the Right to Counsel Ordinance this year.
